I shaved my head... yep, with a razor. I had buzzed my head pretty good trying to keep cool while working construction, and it hit me. I wonder what I would look like bald. Now I know. Other than my scalp needing some sun, it was a nice shape. I am not sure that I will do it again or not because I did not like the way it felt to the touch. Also, it felt like I had to rip my hat of my head like it was attached to Velcro.
More interesting than a bald Polson... After I shaved my head, I finally called about a student pastor position that had been posted on the seminary web site. I figured that perhaps the position would have already been taken. I thought wrong. I was having a pleasant conversation with the District Superintendent concerning the position when out of the blue he asks, "Would you be interested in preaching this Sunday?" So what is a guy to do? (remember, I had just shaved my head completely bald not an hour an a half before this conversation)
Amy, the boys, and I headed north to preach this past Sunday. I was fairly nervous and at the first little church, I sped through my sermon at light speed. So the service that normally gets out at 10:30 was released at 10:05! The congregation was extremely gracious and kind. Good folks!
On the short trip across the country (less than 10 miles), Amy and I discussed my delivery and focused on transitions and clarifications (Amy is soooo supportive, I couldn't have done it without her... and probably wouldn't have). Needless to say my next presentation of the message was greatly improved. Amy says it was my best sermon delivery yet. I know God uses her to keep me headed in the right direction.
So after a hectic day, Amy and I are praying (& asking for you to pray) over the decision whether or not to pursue this two-point position over an hour from school. I am very thankful for this wonderfully positive experience and the support of my family (& you guys, too!).
