The day began with our second installment of our grade in the form of an exam… yeah… Always wish I could have done better but alas it is finished. Then, we prepared for our trip up to Galilee. We are leaving at 7am and will be gone for 3 nights and 4 days around the northern part of the country. Unfortunately
After lunch, four of us ran into, across, over, around and through the Old City of Jerusalem. We took in King David’s tomb, Oskar Schindler’s grave, the Garden Tomb (Tradition has it that this was were Christ was born & the site of Golgotha), back down into the Kidron valley to see Absalom’s tomb and finally spent the better part of an hour looking for a place we heard about to eat. Once we finally found the place, 3 out of 4 of us realized that $20-$30 a head was more than we could really afford, especially since our meals at the JUC are already paid for… So, 3 of 4 of us sprinted back across the Old City to get in line for dinner back “home.”
This evening, four of the Asbury boys made use of the ping pong table in a very fun, yet highly competitive manner. It was apparent that most of us had a little rust on our games but soon we all seemed to have found our game and slapped that poor little ball silly.
The day was extremely physical yet very enjoyable. It has been too long since I have been able to do as much as I would like to do physically. There is an awakening within me when I am able and willing to get up and actually do something. Though I am thoroughly tired from today’s events, I am feeling great!
I look forward to our trip North tomorrow and have heard that our “bungalow” has wireless (at a small cost…). We shall see what the situation actually is once we get there and therefore, may or may not be posting these daily reports of this crazy trip. I covet your prayers and words of encouragement as I embark on this last leg of this adventure and look forward to sharing with you on the flip side. Blessings to you all and look forward to seeing everyone very soon.
Mark
