Leave the Gun. Take the Cannoli.

A new understanding of the iconic phrase "Leave the gun. Take the cannoli." from the Godfather films was brought to light the other night. Amy's mother has been staying with us for the past few days visiting and sightseeing all things Kentucky. In her attempts to spend as much time as possible with her grandchildren. She forced Amy and I out of the house to have a movie night with the kiddos forcing them to stay up extremely late and shoving sugary and salty snacks into their young belly's.

Amy and I took this opportunity to have a "date night." We are fairly unfamiliar with this prospect and decided against a movie and chose to have a nice dinner together to catch up since we rarely have the opportunity to visit with our hectic schedules and interruptive children. In random chance while driving aimlessly in the outskirts of Lexington, we happened upon Johnny Carino's Italian Restaurant.

We enjoyed the ambiance and conversation while getting our fill of fantastic Italian cuisine. It was very nice to have a slow paced, uninterrupted conversation with Amy. After completing our meal and not having room for one more bite, we chose to split a dessert. What should we get. Admittedly, Amy and I were somewhat apprehensive in ordering the cannoli due to the ricotta cheese as an ingredient. However, the waitress' opinion on the dessert persuaded us to try it.

If you have never had cannoli, I suggest that you never try it... I woke up in a cold sweat dreaming of my next cannoli experience and suffering terrible withdrawals. I hope to get my next fix soon!

Blessings

Based on your description of cannoli with ricotta cheese I, for one, will follow your advice and NEVER have cannoli.
Thanks for the telephone number Sunday last.

If you ever come and visit, I'll make some cannolies for you. I have been told that they are very good.
